Freeboard for the masses

on Jun 18th 2009

Not an album title, but introducing the most rad change in freeboard ever, which allows skateboarders converge to the sport. That is done by Gravitis, once again, launching the brand new freeboard trucks to fit skateboard decks: this combines a stainless steel frame, in place of the aluminum base, to a simplified mechanism which is all innovative solutions.

Relevant features:

  • ultra slim stainless steel baseplate, weighting like a skateboard one
  • skateboard standard holes pattern
  • adjustable bushings height/inclination
As result, these trucks not only fit current freeboard decks, but also skateboard ones, twin tip. In this case nose and tail help out initially to grab feets without being vinculated to the board like using bindings or hooks, and once learned the basics of freeboarding, going hard with these.

Trucks have been designed by Broox in Italy, combining as used, the utility (which is an added value nowadays) to the aim to provide innovative features:
  1. new standard reduced measures of 16cm lenght and 120g weight equivalent to an aluminum skateboard one.
  2. stiff baseplate frame which extends outwards to skateboard holes predrilled decks.
  3. The center wheel bearing is the same for edge wheels, so the stock 10pcs pack is exact for freeboarding.

  4. The cam is aligned for the first time by a simmetrical spring which opens wings like a grasshopper.
  5. The resistant center wheel carbon arm fits wheels to 76mm (reccomended range 52-72mm) and doesn't hit the base on hardest landings.
  6. Upon the grade 8 kingpin it can be adjusted the bushings washer height, varying hanger inclination as well.
  7. Normal skateboards rider pads are adopted for the first time and suggested.
  8. Bearing retainer bolts have been eliminated and now resists to any kind of shocks, included rails.
  9. The one-piece stainless steel frame now can be weld as last chance, so meant to "life long" durate.
Gravitis trucks are meant for freestyle and for freeride. They come out with or without wheels, and are available at Gravitis website, and all authorized dealers (see online store for suggested prices).

Skateboard owners can now fit the Gravitis "SK8 Series" trucks to their skateboard, and have the only professional freeboard, to tune as their own syle and stance.
